Role

Product Designer

''Learn With Lumpy!'' consists of educational content designed for preschool children, allowing children to learn through play. Users try to successfully pass the designated levels. As the level progresses, the questions and games become increasingly difficult.

Purpose of the Project

As a first step, I researched the basic learning needs of preschool age groups and the most preferred educational methods. I determined that children are more likely to learn the concepts of number, shape and color through play. I also interviewed parents and teachers to collect data on children's attention spans and motivation to learn through play. As a result, it was decided that the application should have a structure that would attract children's attention with fun and interactive game mechanics while encouraging them to learn.

Research and User Needs Analysis

User Persona

I developed a fun and cute character, "Lumpy", by examining the character designs that stand out in educational games for children. This character was designed as a figure that guides and encourages children. During the concept phase, a structure was created for in-game activities that would increase the difficulty level according to the levels. This allows children to reinforce basic knowledge while providing more learning opportunities at each level.

Concept Development

While designing the wireframes, I tried to create a layout that would attract children’s attention but not overwhelm them and ensure that each screen serves the learning objectives. The interactive elements were designed with large and clear icons, especially for young children. The application colors were kept simple as they generally focused on understanding the basic structure, but vibrant and cheerful colors were used to attract children’s attention.
